After falling short to Bamber Bridge in a disappointing defeat last Saturday, The Robins steadied the ship on Tuesday evening with a 2-0 victory over North Yorkshire based-outfit Whitby Town, courtesy of a James Hardy brace within the first quarter of an hour.

A Word From The Gaffer

Following Tuesday’s confident display against Whitby, Steve Cunningham said: “We needed to bounce back and we did that today, we knew that we were in for a tough game.

“First half we were electric, it’s the best we’ve played this season so far.

“It’s been a good night, frustrating from the drop off in the second half, but overall I'm really delighted with that.”

Looking ahead to tomorrow’s contest with newly promoted side Emley, the gaffer said: “We want to try and do these back-to-backs because we only did it once last year, so with an opportunity to do it twice in the first five games would be a real statement that we’ve improved on last year.”

Opposition Watch

On paper, The Pewits are the newcomers to the division; however, their performances thus far would suggest they are anything but inexperienced at Northern Premier League level.

After a scoreless draw away to Hyde United on the opening day, Emley have picked up six points from a possible nine, with impressive 2-1 victories over Curzon Ashton and most recently Leek Town on Tuesday evening.

Last Time We Met

Saturday afternoon’s clash between the two sides will mark their first meeting in league competition since 2003, where Emley ran out 3-2 winners that day.
